James Westfall
Name: James Westfall
Age: 29
Category: Cat 1 XC
How long riding/racing: have been mountain biking as far back as I can remember. I grew up spending my Summers in Idaho and being shuttled by Mom to some of the best singletrack I have ever ridden. Didn’t start to race until 4 years ago, and have really begun to enjoy it, once I learned that training makes racing much more fun. It’s a family affair for the Westfall’s with my brother, wife, and brother and sister in law all racing and participating in other enduro-style events.
Goals for 2010: Building the engine through regular racing with aspirations of good performances at the 24hrs of Spokane, the Firecracker 50 in Breckenridge, and the High Cascade 100.
Off the bike hobbies: Most involve trails, rivers and mountains with varying amounts of grueling exertions, glorious moments, and more than one dark night trying to find the way back to the car.
Strongest asset: a training partner who never misses a workout regardless of amount of sleep…
Weakest asset: Chasing too hard too early and paying for it later in the day
Like most about the sport: The solitude, the camaraderie and ripping on some of the West’s best trails.
