Name: Phil Krueger
Age: 29
Category: C cyclocross/ 5 road
How long riding/racing: Started riding road bikes in 2004 for recreation and fitness. While living in Boston, I completed several centuries around New England. After moving to Portland in 2007 and watching my first Cross Crusade Race that Fall, I decided to race cross the following season In May 2009, I joined my father for my first bike tour- going 400 miles from Virginia Beach to Manhattan in a week. Whether I am packed with 80 lbs of gear touring or bent over in the woods heaving during a cross race, I am always happy on my bike.
Goals for 2010: Take part in my first road race and not crash. Finish in the top 50 at Cross Crusade Cat C. Pass my architecture exams so I can focus more on riding.Off the bike hobbies: Volleyball, skiing, stand-up comedy and sleeping in (That’s why I hate 9:30 training rides).
Strongest asset: Sense of humor to laugh off the pain.
Off the bike hobbies: Volleyball, skiing, rock climbing, back packing, stand-up comedy and sleeping in (That’s why I hate 9:30 training rides).
Weakest asset: Fitness level because I just don’t get enough time on the bike due to constant studying for my architecture licensing exams.
Like most about the sport: The fulfillment of zipping down the road under your own power while passing cars. That’s why my friends call me Phast Phil.
